"The first electric multiple unit Desiro has been officially presented today. The activity was carried out at Central Station in Sofia. Later the unit has traveled to Septemvri for a demonstration trip.
The unit is delivered by Siemens for Bulgarian Railway Company (BDZ). Desiro are part of a new generation of light, modular trains which have become widespread in many European countries; sometime referred to as light train. It has air conditioning and electronic information system. The unit has top speed of 140 km/h and will pass the destination Sofia - Pernik for 33 minutes.
Siemens will deliver 25 units to the end of 2008. "
